I am currently developing an educational tool kit for professionals who are working with or coming into contact with kids who have a parent in prison. Along with much research and background info, this kit will also advocate the development of support groups for these children and youth. In developing a model of service delivery using a cognitive behavioral play therapy approach, I am now looking for a simple assessment tool that can be administered easily. These kids have often endured stigma and shame from all sectors of society as they are placed in the same category as their parent who committed the crime. Unfortunately we have neglected to recognize the hidden victims of crime, especially here in Canada. I feel that focusing on their strengths as opposed to everything they are doing wrong, is an excellent way to get to this population and to form a trusting relationship with them. For once they can be looked at in a positive light without a microscope analysing them. I would love to find out how I can get a hold of this assessment tool and what qualifications I need to administer it. It seems simple enough...but I would like for you to confirm this as different people will be looking at the kit and a simple, yet effective tool is key. Could you get back to me ASAP...the kit is due in a month or so.
Thank-you,
