Who should be involved? |
Cultural competency is not just an issue for mental health service providers. Anyone who works in health and human service fields with children and families should be able to function effectively in cross-cultural contexts. It is vital to address this issue with regards to policy development, formal training, and delivery of services to consumers. "What it Really Takes to Improve Cultural Competency" discusses how policymakers and system administrators can facilitate the development of cultural competency in a profession. The article is published in Closing the Gap a monthly newsletter from the Office of Minority Health, an organization devoted to health concerns of minority communities.
