Scoring

After an adult completes the BERS on a child, the examiner calculates a number of scores. For each of the strength areas (subscales) a total raw score is determined by summing the scores. The raw scores from the BERS subscales can be converted to percentile ranks and to standard scores with a mean of 10 (SD=3) and a range of 0 to 20. The higher the score the greater the perceived strength. The sum of the subscale standard scores can be converted into the BERS Strength Quotient with a mean of 100 (SD=15).
