| About
the Site The Prevention and Early Intervention Web Page is intended to provide prevention practitioners with information on best and promising practices. We hope to reach professionals, consumers, and students across a range of disciplines, including mental health, education, special education, juvenile justice, and public policy. There is no shortage of information available about prevention programs. There is, however, very little readily available information about how well these programs work. Without careful evaluation, it is impossible to know under what conditions it is most effective, and with whom it is most likely to be successful. Whatever your involvement in prevention, making informed choices about whether to implement, attend, or study a particular prevention program requires access quality-reviewed information. This site is maintained by the Center for Effective Collaboration and Practice at the American Institutes for Research in Washington, DC. The mission of the Center is to support and to promote a reoriented national preparedness to foster the development and adjustment of children with, or at risk of, developing serious emotional disturbance. To achieve that goal, the Center is dedicated to a policy of collaboration at Federal, state, and local levels that contributes to and facilitates the production, exchange, and use of knowledge about effective practices. We have strategically organized the Center to identify promising programs and practice, promote the exchange of useful and useable information, and facilitate collaboration among stakeholders and across service system disciplines. |
