[footer.htm]Dr. Kevin I. Coats is a school psychologist with the Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex Counties BOCES in upstate New York. He has worked in a nontraditional setting, the Broad Street Teaching and Learning Center 9for disturbed children and youth) for the past 8 years and consults privately with numerous schools on such topics as school discipline and behavior management, crisis intervention and violence prevention. Dr. Coats received his Ph.D. (1982) and M.S. degrees (1977) in school psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and B.A. (1975) from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. He has national certification as a school psychologist, is a certified trainer with the National Crisis Prevention Institute and has permanent certification as a school district administrator. His past experiences include positions as a K-12 school psychologist in Wisconsin and New York, adjunct professor with Russell Sage College, and therapist in a community mental health center. His major clinical interests are related to assessment and treatment of social-emotional problems in children and self-management interventions. He has also worked on the Reynolds Adolescent Depression Scale (RADS) and other screening methodology for early identification of clinically depressed youth.
