Dr. Jeffrey Sprague has over 20 years experience as a classroom teacher, teacher supervisor, consultant, research, and teacher of methodological issues related to special education services for persons with disabilities. Dr. Sprague spent seven years as a model classroom teacher (Arc of Lane County and Oregon Teacher of the Year) for the Oregon High School Project for Secondary Age Students with Disabilities. He collaborated with Dr. Barbara Wilcox and Dr. Thomas Bellamy to develop and test model inclusive, community-based school and work services and classroom management technologies. Dr. Sprague also served as a behavior management consultant and trainer in the Lane Educational Service District Program for Students with Severe Disabilities. Dr. Sprague has extensive experience supporting teacher trainees, direct care staff in vocational and residential settings, and families. He is the author of a number of widely used manuals and book chapters on integration and peer involvement systems for school age children. As director of the Indiana University Center for School and Community Integration he directed the OSEP funded Statewide Transition Systems Change project, the Severe Disabilities Statewide Systems Change Project for school inclusion, and the Peer Education Project, which developed a curriculum for high school students to learn important concepts related to disability. Sprague also directed a project entitled Multi-variable Analysis of Severe Problem Behavior which focused identifying complex antecedent variables affecting problem behavior.

Dr. Sprague is an assistant professor at the Specialized Training Program and the Associate Director of the University of Oregon Institute on Violence and Destructive Behavior. His activities include research, model development, field-based technical assistance, development and implementation of local, state, and national training events, and product development and dissemination. Sprague is recognized in Oregon and across the nation as a leader in positive behavioral support and promoting systems change related to secondary and school to work issues.
