Most communities already have agencies and services that are equipped
to respond to the needs of young people who have emotional and behavioral
problems. Regular communication between schools and agencies can break
down the institutional barriers, making certain each student receives all
the services he or she needs. An effective strategy is to coordinate service
delivery on an individual level around each student. This process is facilitated
if schools are set up to collaborate systematically with one or more social
service agencies.
