Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services
(CLAS) Early Childhood Research Institute The CLAS Early Childhood Research Institute is designed to improve the services provided to young children with disabilities and their families. CLAS acquires materials that promote early intervention practices which, through research and practice, are known to be effective, appropriate, and sensitive to children and families who are from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds. Materials include: training materials for early intervention personnel, information packets for parents and teachers, resource materials or curriculum guides, articles, books, videotapes, audiotapes, and multimedia kits. The Early Childhood Research Institute on Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) is a federally-funded collaborative effort of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the Council for Exceptional Children, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, the ERIC Clearinghouse on Elementary and Early Childhood Education, and the ERIC Clearinghouse on Disabilities and Gifted Education. |
