Supporting Students with Serious Emotional Disturbance
in Rural Schools and Communities This is a small rural k-8 school in northern Vermont that provides inclusive educational services for all their children, including children with severe emotional disturbance, within the regular education classrooms and school. Three team structures are used to facilitate this: a community-school planning team for increasing community and agency involvement and ownership of the local school, a school team to coordinate federal, state and school-wide initiatives, and individual student support teams to problem-solve ongoing strategies for children at risk. |
