Kathy Riley

Kathy Riley is a teacher with Toledo Public Schools. Since 1992 she has worked with Denise Conrad and Kathy Pilewskie in the Behavior Specialist Program.

The Behavior Specialist Program delivers two types of services. First, the development, implementation and weekly monitoring of individual behavior plans for students experiencing behavioral problems in their current educational placements. They are members of the MFE team in the event that the student does not respond positively to the interventions and the school seeks a special education placement. The Behavior Specialist Program also provides consultation services on a limited basis to provide teachers with strategies for working with students exhibiting low level challenging behaviors but are not suspected of having a handicap. All requests for assistance are initiated by classroom teachers. Teacher evaluation is not an aspect of this program.

Kathy has seven years experience in elementary education, seven years experience in SED in a separate facility and has held various positions in a summer school for migrant children for the past twenty-eight summers. She has also served as a Consultant in Toledo Public Schools Intern/Intervention Program for first year teachers and veteran teachers experiencing challenges in their classrooms. Kathy is a national trainer for the American Federation of Teachers' Educational Research and Dissemination Program in the area of Managing Antisocial Behavior.
