The National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) represents 22,500 school psychologists and related professionals throughout the United States and abroad. NASP advocates for positive welfare, mental health, and educational programs and services for youth. The NASP mission is to promote educationally and psychologically healthy environments for children and their families by implementing research-based, effective programs that prevent unhealthy behaviors, enhance independence and promote optimal learning. This is accomplished through state-of-the-art research and training, advocacy, ongoing program evaluation, and caring professional service. We are particularly active in services, programs and interventions for school and community-based violence prevention efforts. NASP is a partner in the implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and in the grant to provide technical assistance for the Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative.

Crisis response and violence prevention resources for parents, educators and communities: These resources are designed to help schools cope with the aftermath of a tragedy, particularly in light of September 11th events, and to implement strategies to create a safe learning environment for all students.
