relevant ways. Their combined constituencies have profound
influence in promoting excellence and equity for students
with disabilities in the public education agenda.
PMP Objectives
To infuse special education issues in all areas of
educational decision making.
-
To consider the policy implications of IDEA '97 in the
context of general education and school reform.
-
To communicate relevant research to
policymakers.
-
To foster innovative collaboration among
policymakers.
-
To disseminate the results of effective
collaboration and promising practice.

The National Association Of State Mental Health Program
Directors (NASMHPD) is a PMP Primary Partner. Members are
the Commissioners or other top administrators of state
mental health programs throughout the country and
territories. NASMHPD provides a forum for state leaders in
mental health services to share information and ideas,
develop policy recommendations, and advocate on behalf of
its members and those they serve. It also provides
state-to-state technical assistance to its members. One of
the five divisions of NASMHPD is the Division of Children,
Youth, and Families. Made up of state-appointed children's
mental health administrators, this group advises NASMHPD on
all matters of mental health issues relating to children and
youth.
